My name is Jennie Harper and I am employed by Gilmer County as a school counselor. I have been at Oakland Elementary since 2005. I have a BA in Liberal Arts (1996), M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling (1998) and I received my school counseling certification in 2007. I began my career as a mental health therapist in 1998 and have worked in Georgia, Alabama and Alaska. My career path has been varied and includes: sexual assault and domestic violence counselor, HIV specialist, therapeutic foster care specialist, developmentally disabled child specialist and child abuse investigator.

I am thrilled to be a part of the Gilmer County family.

I have a very simple philosophy when it comes to working with children. 1. Help them. 2. Encourage them. 3. Listen to them. 4. Prepare them.

I am here to HELP.
