Ms. Mikella Rutter was able to arrange for the "Be Pro, Be Proud" lab to visit GHS on Thursday 1/14/2021 and Friday 1/15/2021. Ms. Rutter placed us on an extremely long waiting list, and due to a cancellation they were able to visit us early. She reports we were the first district outside metro Atlanta that they visited.

"The mobile lab is what they call "The Workforce Workshop". It is organized through the Cherokee County Office of Economic Development and funded through grants. On board the rig, the students start by having a discussion with Scott Callahan, the organizer, who tells his personal success story of making over six figures a year with just a Class A license which he received through an 8 week course. The rest of his discussion with the students is geared towards making them aware of high-need, recession proof jobs in Georgia that they can pursue without a four year degree. At the end of the discussion, the students are encouraged to sign up for the "Be Pro, Be Proud" Movement which ultimately connects them to technical training programs and employers across the state.
